A static QR stores a destination directly. A dynamic QR stores a permanent short link that you manage. When your menu, offer, or website changes, you update the destination in your dashboard instead of replacing the printed code.

The black-and-white pattern stays the same. Each scan opens your permanent PrintOnceQR address, which sends the visitor to the destination currently saved in your account. An edit changes that saved destination. You do not need to download a replacement image, recall printed materials, or ask customers to install an app.
Choose a dynamic code when the printed material will outlast its destination: a restaurant table sign, a business card, a product insert, or an event poster. It is also useful when you want scan totals for a campaign. A static QR can be sufficient for information that will never change and does not need a managed redirect.
Keep a clear border around the code, choose a dark foreground on a light background, and test at the distance your audience will use. A code on a table is scanned differently from one on a wall poster. Check your destination on mobile too: a readable landing page matters as much as a readable QR.
Keep control of your account and leave codes active while printed copies are in circulation. PrintOnceQR keeps active redirects working when analytics allowances are reached or a paid subscription ends. Deleting a code or your account makes its printed copies unusable. The hosted service and domain must remain available for redirects to work.
Only if that QR was created as a dynamic code on a service you still control. A static code cannot be changed remotely. Create a new dynamic QR before your next print run.
Most modern phones can open QR codes through their camera. Test with the phones your customers use before distributing printed materials.
